Brian Dorman, Anchor

Brian Dorman is an award winning journalist who brings a wealth of experience to the ABC 57 news desk. Known for his determination and ability to get the story right, he's worked for stations all across the Midwest.

Brian started his career at a small TV station, WBKB in Alpena, Michigan as a main anchor, that start took him to KSNT & WIBW in Topeka, Kansas where he served as weekend anchor/reporter for three years. Brian moved to Joplin, Missouri where he worked as the solo main anchor for KODE. Brian started at WBND serving as our weekend anchor, he was promoted to main anchor in August 2012.

Brian's covered momentous events like President Gerald Ford's repose, Kansas State University tornado damage, an investigation into horse slaughter and the 2013 BCS National Championship Game in Miami.

Brian Dorman received his bachelor's degree in communication from Oakland University in Rochester Hills, Michigan. He grew up in Oakland County, Michigan and is excited to cover his home state.

"I started my career in Michigan and I'm covering much of Michigan now. It is a dream come true in the business to have that opportunity. I think most people in broadcasting hope to one day cover their hometown or home state. I feel very lucky to have that opportunity."

While you probably see Brian most behind the anchor desk, don't be fooled. He is the first to grab a camera and jump on breaking news and works very hard behind the scene to continue to break stories and dig for the stories that impact those of you living in Michiana.

Brian has been recognized and awarded for his work by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters for his in depth reporting on horse slaughter while working for KSNT. He also received an award from the Missouri Broadcasting Association for his contributions to a news series about homelessness. In 2012, Brian won an Emmy for his contribution to outstanding crafts achievement off-air – technical achievement for his use of LIVE-U technology. (The ability to go live without a live truck.)

Brian is also dedicated to volunteering for area school districts, the South Bend Center for the Homeless and joining forces to fight against youth violence.

When he's not following up on the latest lead, Brian enjoys working out, reading, playing piano and frequenting Starbucks. Maybe you'll see him flipping through the latest Grisham thriller next time you stop in for a latte!

Brian has been a member of the ABC 57 News team since January 2011. Brian anchors ABC 57 News at 5, 5:30, 6, 10 (on the CW25) & 11 p.m.
