By Brian Dorman

According to Chief Executive Magazine the state of Indiana is one of the top states to conduct business.

Indiana was ranked the best Midwest state to do business and 5th overall nationwide.

The magazine surveyed more than 500 executives to decide the ranking.

According to the magazines website, "CEOs were asked to grade states in which they do business among a variety of areas, including tax and regulation, quality of workforce and living environment. The Lone Star State was given high marks foremost for its business-friendly tax and regulatory environment. But its workforce quality, second only to Utah’s, is also highly regarded."

The state of Texas came in first.

California ranked last in the survey.
