Big Ten media day: Coach Jim Harbaugh excited for Notre Dame rivalry game

CHICAGO -- The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will play two Big Ten opponents during the upcoming season. On the first day of the Big Ten Football media days in downtown Chicago, Coach Jim Harbaugh talked about the Wolverines going up against Notre Dame in the season opener.

The game against the Michigan Wolverines will be the first at Notre Dame Stadium since 2014.

Coach Harbaugh says it’s a good rivalry and that it's good for football all the way around.

“It’s going to be a formidable opponent. Excellent team. I know him to be a really good coach,” said Coach Harbaugh.

He is excited to coach against Coach Brian Kelley.

“Excited about it. Had a chance to watch the game as a kid. Had a chance to play in the game twice and watch it once. 2 great Midwestern teams. Excited about it," Coach Harbaugh said.

Both coaches are facing a lot of pressure heading into the season opener.

“Probably better not to live in the past. Just focus on next and this season. No need to compare it to any other season in any form or fashion. Making it the best it could possibly be. Feel like I'm doing my job best that way," Coach Harbaugh said.
