Death reported at Elkhart County Jail

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- An inmate at the Elkhart County Jail died Wednesday afternoon, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department.
Medics were called to the facility at 3:52 p.m. to tend to an inmate.
While providing medical assistance, the inmate became unresponsive. Attempts at resuscitation were unsuccessful.
The inmate was pronounced dead at the jail.
The Elkhart County Homicide Unit will investigate the death because it was an in-custody death, as per protocol. ECHU says they do not suspect foul play.
The inmate's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
