ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- Incumbent Vicki Becker won the Republican primary for Elkhart County Prosecutor.
Becker received 11,093 votes (68%) while her opponent, Marty McCloskey, received 5,198 votes (32%).
Becker has been the Elkhart County Prosecutor since January 2017 and before that was the Deputy Prosecuting Attorney of Elkhart County.
Her opponent was Martin "Marty" McCloskey, who is a US Air Force veteran, a former police officer and former Elkhart County Commissioner.
Becker voted on Tuesday at a local church. McCloskey voted early.
ABC 57 spoke with Becker at Bent Oak Golf Club after the news of her success.
“It just, it gives me so much strength to know we’re moving in the right direction so it’s a good night!” The Elkhart County Prosecutor said.
Becker also told ABC 57 that she had a lot of moral support throughout the process.
“I promised myself at the beginning of this that I was going to take the high road and that we were going to win on our merits if we were going to win and being able to accomplish that gives me faith. That’s what people want to see, so it’s good stuff.” Becker said.
The Elkhart County Prosecuter, Vicki Becker celebrated her nomination with friends and family.
