NILES, Mich – The city of Niles is on the path to seeing more development.
The Niles City Council approved a liquor license for the Niles Brewing Company, which is a start-up interested in opening a brewery in the area.
Monday’s approval by the Niles City Council is the first step in the process of opening the business on 3rd street in downtown Niles.
“The vote will allow me to brew my own beer and then have a full-service bar” Brandon Townsley of Niles said.
The brewery is one of many developments in progress in Niles including the Berkshire Niles development which is nearby.
Niles Mayor Nick Shelton says he is excited about the new economic development in Niles.
“We always want more businesses to choose Niles as their place to start a business. We are seeing lots of businesses started here; we have ribbon cuttings every week which is great. Niles is a great place to be right now and we’re really excited for people to take a chance on our city” Niles Mayor Nick Shelton said.
After Monday’s liquor license approval the brewery will apply for county and state licenses along with state inspections.
According to Townsley he plans to open the Niles Brewing Company Spring 2019.
