Faculty and staff get Fr. Hesburgh memorial tickets

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -

The South Bend and Notre Dame community will be honoring Father Theodore Hesburgh this week.

The former president of Notre Dame died late Thursday evening at the age of 97.

Faculty and staff were given the opportunity to get tickets to the memorial Monday morning.

Students received their tickets Sunday.

The tribute to Father Hesburgh is scheduled for this Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Purcell Pavilion. There will be no class for students that day after 12:20 p.m.

The public can get tickets at Purcell starting Tuesday at 3 p.m. But keep in mind, they are first come first serve.

If you can't get a ticket, a live webcast of the service will be shown in the Compton Family Ice arena.

You can also watch from home on the Notre Dame website: Hesburgh.ND.edu.

Monday the Basilica of the Sacred Heart will be hosting a public prayer service from 7-9 p.m. that you can attend. And there will be public visitation there Tuesday at noon.
