Five victims recovered in Michigan during human trafficking operation

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Law enforcement agencies across southwest Michigan worked to recover victims of human trafficking over the weekend.

Michigan State Police Fifth District Headquarters and the Kalamazoo Area Human Trafficking Task Force led the initiative.

During the operation, approximately 20 subjects were targeted as potential human trafficking victims and five were identified and recovered.

The investigation is ongoing.

Michigan State Police, FBI, Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, Kalamazoo Township Police Department, Portage Police Department, Allegan County Sherriff’s Department, Kalamazoo Area Victims Services, YWCA, and probation/ parole agencies were involved in the operation.
