Government outsourcing debt collection

Government agencies across the country are starting to outsource their debt collection. The government is hiring private debt collection agencies to go after people who owe unpaid taxes, unpaid parking tickets and even one dollar tolls.

It could translate into big bucks for cash-strapped states, cities and other local governments.

By outsourcing the work and letting private companies charge debtors sky-high fees, it means government  agencies can get these collection services free of charge.
