Chicago Cubs Outfielder Jason Heyward hoped he wouldn't be making another trip to South Bend this season, but those plans have changed.
According to multiple reports, the Georgia native will make a rehab assignment in South Bend Sunday when the Cubs take on the Lansing Lugnuts as he works back from a hand injury.
This will be Heyward's second trip to South Bend this season as he made an appearance in May while rehabbing a knuckle injury. He went 1-3 in the game with an RBI single.
First pitch to Sunday's game is at 7:35 p.m. and will be aired on My Michiana.
As for the South Bend Cubs, they snapped their six game losing streak Saturday night defeating the Lansing Lugnuts 5-4 at Four Winds Field. Vimael Machin hit the go ahead two-run homer in the seventh inning. South Bend came into the game losing eight of their first nine games to start the second half of their season.
