Lake County officer indicted on sexual battery, rape charges

CROWN POINT, Ind. – A Lake County Sheriff’s officer was indicted on four sex crime-related charges Thursday.
Indiana State Police say an investigation of 34-year-old Nick Medarno started in the fall of 2016 following a complaint from a co-worker of the officer’s.
Medarno has been an officer with the Lake County Sheriff’s Department for over 10 years.
According to ISP, Medarno will turn himself in on charges of rape, confinement, attempted rape, and sexual battery.
He is expected to be held on a $10,000 cash bond.
