Man shot during argument with longtime friend

SHERMAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Two friends who got into an argument were involved in a shooting early Tuesday morning, according to the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies were called to the 67000 block of Shimmel Road just before 4 a.m. to investigate a shooting.

When they arrived, deputies learned a 29-year-old Sturgis man shot a 30-year-old man, also from Sturgis.

The two have been friends since high school and had several disagreements during the night, which led to the shooting, deputies said.

The victim drove himself to the hospital.

The suspect was arrested and is facing several felony charges, deputies said.
