North Judson, Ind. -- The family fighting for their 4-H chickens has started a community wide push for the town to change their animal ordinance.
The Burkett family was told last month they will have to get rid of their flock after the fair, even though they have documentation from town meetings proving their chickens were excluded from the ordinance.
In response, they’ve received support from dozens of neighbors, Many are now asking the town to change the ordinance all together to allow them to urban chickens, too.
At Monday’s town meeting, the board agreed to continue the discussion. They tabled it until the July 17th meeting.
