Ribbon cutting held at newly renovated Kelly Park

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Students with the Notre Dame Robinson Community Learning Center decided in 2013 to renovate Kelly Park, in the northeast neighborhood. On Thursday, city leaders, university leaders and students cut the ribbon on the newly renovated park.

South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, South Bend Councilwoman Jo Broden and Aaron Perri, the executive director of Venues Parks & Arts were among the many city leaders in attendance.

Students, residents and representatives of Notre Dame and the Robinson Community Learning Center were also present for the 6 p.m. ceremony.

The renovations were made possible by dozens of volunteers and community and corporate sponsors. They include benches, sidewalks, landscaping, basketball courts, playground equipment, fencing and a picnic shelter.
