SOUTH BEND, Ind.-If you ever dreamed of being a contestant on “The Amazing Race”, a local event happening this weekend could give you a similar experience. On Saturday, the 9th annual Urban Adventure Games kick off in South Bend.

The Urban Adventure Games are a four hour scavenger hunt across South Bend, Mishawaka and the area surrounding Notre Dame.

Participants pair up in teams of 2. Racers need to have a bike and helmet to participate.

There are a variety of challenges including running, biking, climbing, swimming and sliding.

“The reason that we do this is that we wanted to create a fun and engaging way for people to connect with the community,” said Jonathan Jones, the Race Director.

Racers complete activities at 49 stations and all of them are surprises.

People can sign up to be in three different categories depending on preference, the fun division, open division and the elite division.

The fun division is for people who are less competitive and just want to have a good time. The open division is for fit and friendly competitors. Finally, the elite division is for the racers that are in it to win it.

“We have a lot of veterans of the race who have done it multiple years in a row, but we’re continually getting new people who are getting acclimated with it,” Jones said.

Registration is $140 for each team. Online registration has closed, but those interested can sign up at race headquarters at Ignition Park from 4-9 P.M. on Friday or at 6 A.M. on Saturday at the start of the race, Four Winds Field.
