‘Tis the season for filing taxes

Tax filing season has begun.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, taxpayers can begin filing Monday and will have until Tuesday, April 17 to do so.

Two extra days are given due to the usual date, April 15, being on a Sunday and the following Monday being a legal holiday.

As a reminder, those who claim the Earned Income Tax Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit will not receive a refund before mid-February.

The IRS says to keep copies of previous tax returns for at least three years.
