Train collides with vehicle in Elkhart County

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- A 19-year-old woman was injured when her vehicle was struck by a train on CR 9 Monday morning.
The crash happened on CR9, just south of US Highway 6, around 8:45 a.m.
The investigation indicates the driver, 19-year-old Karinna Alondara Diaz, drove around the stop arm and then stopped on the tracks, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department.
Diaz's Chevy Cruz was struck by the CSX train.
Diaz was taken to Memorial Hospital by helicopter with severe head trauma and internal injuries.
