Two suspects crash cookout, attack guests and steal purse

ELKHART, Ind. -- A group of friends having a cookout Sunday evening were attacked and robbed when two unidentified men crashed the party.

The victims told Elkhart Police they were having a cookout at 931 Tipton Street when two men ran into the yard around 9 p.m.

One of the suspects had a handgun and hit one of the victims on the head.

Another victim was punched and a third victim's purse was stolen.

The two men then fled the yard. They were described as black males in their 20s wearing black hooded sweatshirts.
