Voting changes to affect St.Joseph County ballots

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Changes in straight ticket voting will affect St. Joseph County ballots in the upcoming General Election, according to the St. Joseph County Election Board.

The Indiana Legislature passed Senate Bill 61 in 2017, which resulted in changes to straight ticket voting.

Under the new changes, if voters decide to vote straight party, all county, state and federal election candidates will receive one vote and all at-large races will not.

Votes on the Township Advisory Board must be done separately as voters may vote for three candidates.

Ballot initiatives, judicial retention questions and school board races must also be voted on separately.
