Woman attacked, robbed after trying to assist man calling for help

ELKHART, Ind. -- A woman walking in Elkhart Wednesday evening was injured when she attempted to assist a man calling for help.

Elkhart Police were called to Elkhart General Hospital to take a report from the victim.

She told police she was walking in the area of East Boulevard and Bridge Street when she heard someone yelling he needed help.

When she went to the man to assist him, he attacked her, took her wallet and fled the area.

The man is described as a tall white male with a medium build wearing a green/gray shirt.
