Notre Dame cautions fans about counterfeit tickets

The University of Notre Dame has received reports about counterfeit tickets to the September 5 home opener against University of Texas being sold.

Associate Athletics Director Rob Kelly warns fans to be careful when getting tickets from non-university sources.

"It's not uncommon for us to see counterfeit tickets show up on game day each year," Kelly says. "But the reports we've seen this year are earlier and more frequent than usual.

The university says the only way to purchase authentic tickets is through the university.

If you think you have counterfeit tickets, contact your local law enforcement agency.

Counterfeit tickets often have fuzzy printing, rough cuts or perforations, mismatched fonts or are missing the 3-D shamrock hologram with Fighting Irish leprechauns.

Also, any tickets printed on Ticketmaster stock are counterfeit.
