Jury expected to begin deliberations in Theresa Burns murder trial

MISHAWAKA, Ind. - The murder trial of the man accused of killing Theresa Burns continued Monday morning in St. Joseph County.
Phillip Geans is accused of killing Burns in January of 1988 when she was just 16-years-old.
Police say Burns, a sophomore at Mishawaka High School, was fatally shot multiple times in her home.
According to the prosecution, Geans shot Burns with a .22 caliber gun.
Geans was 18-years-old at the time and dating Burns’ best friend.
Geans, now 45-years-old, faces felony murder charges for Burns’ death.
On Monday closing arguments will be heard from the prosecution and defense and the jury is expected to begin deliberations.
