Local women take on challenge to 'Go Red for Women'

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Some local women are seeing red. They are on a mission to save their own lives!

It's part of the 2nd Annual Go Red for Women Better-U Makeover Challenge.

Friday marked 'Day 1' of the 12-week program.

Over the next three months, 12 women will work toward making important lifestyle changes which could prevent strokes or heart disease.

"It raises awareness for heart disease, specifically targeting the women and shows great collaboration between community partners, so we're just thrilled to be a part of it,” said Dani Elgas of YMCA Michiana.
