13-year-old driver arrested after fleeing traffic stop

Saginaw, MI (WJRT) -- A 13-year-old Saginaw boy was taken into juvenile custody early Tuesday after driving away from a traffic stop.
His 11-year-old brother was in the back seat of the SUV and his 15-year-old cousin in the front passenger seat both were released to the their parents.
Michigan State Police initiated the traffic stop around 1:25 a.m. on the Buick Rendezvous to investigate an improper plate registration. However, the teen sped off instead of pulling over.
Police did not engage in a pursuit. But a short time later the SUV was found near the intersection of Durand and Irving streets.
The 13-year-old boy was arrested for fleeing police while his two relatives were released to family members.
