Saginaw, MI (WJRT) -- A 13-year-old Saginaw boy was taken into juvenile custody early Tuesday after driving away from a traffic stop.

His 11-year-old brother was in the back seat of the SUV and his 15-year-old cousin in the front passenger seat both were released to the their parents.

Michigan State Police initiated the traffic stop around 1:25 a.m. on the Buick Rendezvous to investigate an improper plate registration. However, the teen sped off instead of pulling over.
