Notre Dame Men's Hockey senior capain up for prestigious award
NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- The Notre Dame Fighting Irish Hockey team are commending their very own senior captain Jake Evans after he was named one of 10 finalists of college hockey's 2017-18 Senior CLASS Award®.
Evans was announced along with 9 others of college hockeys finest on Friday afternoon.
The award is handed out annually to the NCAA Division I men's ice hockey student athlete who succeeds both on and off the ice, while excelling in four notable areas of excellence: competition, classroom character and community.
Evans is the leader of the Fighting Irish with 33 points and 24 assists and also became the 52 player in Notre Dame Team history to reach the 100-career point’s milestone earlier this season.
Jake Evans has been praised by his coaches and teammates as a catalyst in elevating the Irish to its first Big Ten title in the first year of Big Ten Conference participation.
To ultimately win the award fans will account for 1/3 of the votes while 2/3 will be determined by various coaches and media members.
The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2018 NCAA Men's Frozen Final Four® in April.
