American Red Cross holds blood drives across Northern Indiana
Blood and platelets are being distributed to hospitals faster than donations are coming in which has led to a critical shortage of blood supply for the American Red Cross.
While thousands of people responded to the emergency request for donations last month, more is needed.
The organization says that all blood types are urgently needed to help restock shelves.
The Red Cross is asking for Indiana’s help by urging donors to give blood at one of the many blood drives being held across the area between July 25 and August 31.
According to the Red Cross, major drives are being held in South Bend, Elkhart, Goshen, Warsaw, La Porte, Michigan City, Lagrange, Crown Point, Hammond, Merriville, Plymouth, and Valparaiso.
The organization will thank those who donate by emailing them a $5 Amazon.com gift card claim code.
