Benton Harbor under 'boil order'
BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- A 'boil order' is in effect for residents of Benton Harbor. Monday afternoon, Michael O'Malley, the City of Benton Harbor Water Superintendent, contacted ABC 57 News with this information.
He says that Benton Harbor, Benton Township, and Hagar Township water sutomers north of Klock Road and west of the CSX Railroad are advised to boil their water for five minutes before drinking or cooking with it.
A water main broke near the intersection of Paw Paw Avenue and Riverside Road. It resulted in a loss of water pressure for residents in the area.
The water main break was isolated within an hour. Crews are out this afternoon flushing and testing the water system.
The boil order will remain in effect until all tests come back clear. O'Malley says there will be an announcement once this happens.
