Handcuffed suspect leads chase in stolen police car
WYOMING, Mich. (CNN) -- Wyoming Police announced Thursday they had found the body of Ana Carrillo, who had been missing since September. Her ex-boyfriend has been charged with open murder.
He was in court Thursday for the second day of his preliminary hearing.
The hearing lasted only a few minutes and was followed by the announcement from police.
"There was a turn in the case. The body was not found in Johnson Park. We received some additional information that we've acted on, and now we believe we've recovered the remains of Ana. We're still working that particular area. We will not be releasing that information today," Wyoming Police Chief James Carmody said.
News of the discovery was an emotional moment for Carrillo's friends and family.
"Emotion, happiness, closure. I just want to grab the kids and give them a hug and a kiss," Ruben Hernandez, Carrillo's cousin, said.
Carrillo was last seen on September 3. Now they are finally getting a chance to heal.
