Candy-free event in Elkhart to provide a Halloween experience for kids with special needs and allergies

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – A Bristol mom is hosting a non-candy trunk-or-treat event for her child and children like hers.

Jamie Stuck, whose son has severe food allergies, created the event so her child could enjoy a “normal” Halloween experience.

The second annual “Michiana Food Free Trunk or Treat” is for children dealing with food allergies, diabetes, feeding tubes, and other special needs to enjoy a typical Halloween experience.

However, all children and families are invited to attend.

On Oct. 24 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., families in the community can enjoy a contactless drive-thru trunk-or-treat at the “Aqua Lot” just north of E. Jackson Blvd. in Elkhart, accessible from Pacific St.

Guests are asked to stay in their cars and pop their trunks in line to receive the goodies.

Event coordinators are also asking for volunteers to provide and pass out treats like small toys and glow sticks.
