Coast Guard suspends search for man missing in Sandusky Bay
The Coast Guard has suspended a search for a man in the water in the Sandusky Bay area.
According to officials witnesses saw a man fall out of an overpowered Jon Boat roughly half a mile from shore shortly before 7:00 p.m. Friday night.
The individual was described as a heavyset blonde-haired man wearing a black long-sleeve shirt.
Coast Guard Sector Detroit Command Center was notified of man falling overboard near Lions Park. Station Marblehead sent a 45-foot response vessel along with a helicopter crew from Air Station Detroit.
Crews searched overnight despite limited visibility due to rain. The Air Station Detroit crew also had to land due to weather.
The Sandusky Fire Department Dive Team used sonar technology as well, but no sightings were reported.
The search was suspended Saturday around noon.
