Elkhart officials investigate apparent drive-by shooting

ELKHART, Ind. -- Authorities confirm a shooting resulting in injury took place in Elkhart shortly after 7:00 p.m. on Friday night.

According to Elkhart officials, the shooting took place at 7:11 p.m. on the 1600 Block of Morehouse Avenue.

Officials say a man was shot and injured while sitting inside a parked vehicle on the side of the road when another vehicle passed by and the shooter fired several rounds into the victim's vehicle.

The vehicle was struck several times and broken glass and a possible bullet hit the victim.

Officials say the victim was transported to Elkhart General Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

No other individuals were injured as a result of this shooting.

There is no suspect description at this time.

The case is being investigated.
