Welcome to my first blog at ABC 57 News!
I think it would only be appropriate to use this first blog as an opportunity for me to introduce myself and tell you about what it was like to move to the area.
I was born and raised in the great state of Michigan! I graduated from Oakland University. I interned at WDIV and WBJK in Detroit. My first gig in TV was upstate Michigan in Alpena. I then headed to the Heartland where I worked in Topeka, Kansas and Joplin, Missouri before moving to Michiana in December.
I'm SO happy to be back 'home!" To be able to live in work in this area has been so great for me. I think everyone dreams of covering their home city or home state and for me I finally have that opportunity.
During the four years that I lived and worked in KS and MO, I only had the chance to come home and be with my family and friends for one week out of the entire year. I would always come home in October because my grandma and I share the same birthday on October 8. It was so hard only being able to come home for that time -- to be able to drive the three hours now and skip out on the security check and baggage claim is awesome!
I don't know what more I could ask for, the area is great! There is so much to see and do with downtown, Notre Dame, Lake Michigan and of course the easy drive over to Chicago. I will admit, though -- you all welcomed me with a lot more snow than I expected this winter!
The people here are also so friendly! I live in Mishawaka, work in South Bend and my reporting beat is Niles. I feel like it's great to be able to be in all three places on a daily basis!
Feel free to add me on your Facebook & Twitter pages! I spend a lot of time there. If you have any story ideas you can also drop me a line at email@example.com
You can catch me reporting Thursday and Friday at 11 p.m., and anchoring on the weekends at 6:30 and 11 p.m. and reporting again on Monday at 11 p.m.
Happy blogging, and thank you for welcoming me with open arms here in Michiana!
