INDOT hosting public meetings to discuss I-80/94 FlexRoad Study

The Indiana Department of Transportation will host two public meetings to discuss the I-80/I-94 corridor between Illinois 394 in Cook County, Illinois, and I-65 in Lake County, Indiana.

The public meetings will allow all interested parties to comment on work being done to improve traffic on the stretch of road.

INDOT has commissioned a Planning and Environment Linkages study to determine how to apply the latest technologies to cost-effectively improve traffic on I-80/94.

Individuals can choose to attend one of the following meetings:

  • Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. at the Purdue Northwest Campus, Alumni Hall, Student Union Library Building, Room 360, 2233 173rd Street, Hammond, IN 46323.
  • Thursday, October 21, 2021, starting at 6:00 p.m. via WebEx; please register in advance here: https://bit.ly/3uiZOzS

INDOT is considering a variety of Transportation System Management Operations strategies, including temporary use of shoulders, variable speed limits, and ramp metering.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for the in-person meeting and the presentation will begin at 6 p.m.

Project representatives will be available before and after the presentation to answer questions.
