(CNN). --71-year-old, Emmy winning actress, Kirstie Alley passed away Monday, after her short battle with cancer, according to her family.
Alley rose to fame playing Rebecca Howe, a bar manager in the hit sitcom "Cheers", in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Alley's kids are paying tribute to their mother by saying on social media how iconic she was on screen, and how much of an amazing mother and grandmother she was.
