Magnitude 7.2 earthquake shakes Mexico
OAXACA, Mexico -- A magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck Mexico Friday evening, according to the US Geological Survey.
According to authorities the earthquake was 24.6 kilometers deep and came with no tsunami threat.
Tghe USGS originally stated that the earthquake was a 7.5 magnitude but it was revised shortly after that.
In the State of Oaxaca there was also a 5.8 aftershock according to the USGS.
The President of Mexico, Enrique Peña tweeted shortly after, stating "protocols have been activated."
This is the most devastating earthquake in Mexico since the two deadly quakes that struck in September which killed over 300 people.
