New book details mysterious 1965 death of Indiana teenager

TIPTON, Ind. (AP) — A new book is taking a fresh look at the mysterious 1965 death of an Indiana teenager whose body was found near her neatly-folded clothing.

Seventeen-year-old Olene Emberton was found dead along a road on Oct. 18, 1965, two days after she vanished after going on a date.

Emberton's clothes were folded neatly near her nude body, and her car was parked blocks from her central Indiana home. But an autopsy failed to determine how she died, preventing a homicide ruling in the suspicious case.

Janis Thornton was a classmate of Emberton's. Her book, "Too Good A Girl" includes a comprehensive case history, including profiles of suspects.

Thornton tells The Kokomo Tribune she hopes her book will "shake loose somebody's memory" and lead to answers about what happened to Emberton.
