WESTLAND, Mich. (AP) — The Michigan Humane Society is hosting a baby shower for kittens, and a suburban Detroit police feline is scheduled to be a special guest.
The Kitten Shower is set for Sunday at the Berman Center for Animal Care in Westland. The event includes a visit with the Troy Police Department's Pawfficer Donut, as well as kitten snuggling, games and a presentation in which guests can learn how to volunteer as kitten caregivers.
People can buy items from the society's baby registry. Those who do can bring their gifts or receipt to the event, and get a chance to adopt a kitten or cat for free.
The nonprofit organization seeks help from the public because so many kittens are surrendered. The shower helps provide supplies and training to animal foster caregivers.
