Rachel Brown is an Emmy-nominated journalist.
Rachel joined the ABC57 news team in September of 2013. She is a 2012 graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, receiving a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism. From there Rachel went on to pursue a master's degree in communication management from Northwestern University.
Growing up in Chicago, she was always fascinated with news and current events happening throughout the city.
“I would rush home from school to watch the 4 o'clock news and even record my very own newscasts. It's fair to say at a young age I decided I wanted to become a journalist.”Throughout college Rachel took part in several competitive internships. She worked at the ABC and NBC affiliates in Chicago, as well as the CBS affiliate in Champaign.
Rachel comes to ABC57 from CBS Chicago, where she worked as a news apprentice. During her time there she field produced, web produced, and worked as a writer for the weekday newscasts.
“I absolutely love meeting new people, telling stories, and giving voices to those who may not have otherwise had one.”
Some career highlights include interviewing Donald Trump, working inside the courtroom during the nationally covered Drew Peterson trial, and recently working as the only reporter from South Bend to provide live coverage on the murders of seven women found in Gary, Indiana.
Rachel is so excited to be a part of ABC57's Emmy award winning news team. She looks forward to covering stories that matter to you. If you have any stories, she'd love to hear from you!
