My name is Shea Sorenson and I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona! My parents actually named me after a road called Shea Boulevard in Phoenix!
Growing up, I was amazed with the monsoon. During the summer months, the wind direction changes in the Southwest. This filters in a good amount of moisture and instability, which helps thunderstorm formation. My favorite part was watching the lightning (from inside of course) and listening for the thunder to figure out how far away the storm was! I always knew that meteorology was my dream job because I could talk about my favorite thing every day.
I graduated from The University of Arizona with a degree in Broadcast Journalism (Bear Down)! I am also working toward my Meteorology degree from Mississippi State University. While I was in Tucson I had multiple weather internships with local stations including KOLD/KMSB and KVOA. The experience was incredible and I loved making weather graphics for the newscast!
My main goal is to keep you safe and to also help plan your day. From weekend barbecues to how much snow you'll have to shovel, I've got you covered!
I am so happy to call South Bend my home because of the kind people and how every day is different when it comes to weather. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me and if you have any questions I would love to hear from you! You can watch me from 6 to 8 AM on the weekends as well as 9 - 10 AM Saturdays and 10 - 11 AM Sundays.
Send me an email, follow me on Twitter and like me on Facebook.
