The 5th annual Notre Dame Day kicks off Sunday night
NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- On Sunday night a 29-hour global celebration of all things Notre Dame will commence.
The event begins at 6:42 p.m. Sunday and ends at 12:11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24.
The significance of the event start time is due to the fact that the university was founded in 1842.
The 29-hour live broadcast from Duncan Student Center will feature inspiring and entertaining Notre Dame stories from around the world through interviews, performances and appearances by celebrity guests. It also provides members of the Notre Dame family the opportunity to give back to areas of the University through an online fundraising competition, according to the university.
Anyone who makes a minimum $10 gift will receive five votes to cast for the programs at Notre Dame that matter most to them. More than 900 programs are eligible for receiving votes.
The broadcast will be led by Mike Golic and Mike Golic Jr. from ESPN, Super Bowl Champions Joe Theismann and Ryan Harris, as well as local broadcasters from the South Bend area.
There will also be more than 200 live interviews and 40 live performances featuring Masters Champion Patrick Reed and recent standouts of the Notre Dame women’s basketball team Kathryn Westbeld and Jessica Shepard.
