Veterans Day events and special offers

There are several events, free meals and special offers for veterans and current military members in Michiana.

Plymouth High School Breakfast for Veterans- November 11
Plymouth High School students and staff invite all United States Veterans to join PHS in a breakfast and program at Plymouth High School. The breakfast starts at 7:45 a.m. and there will be a program at 9 a.m. Please RSVP by calling Plymouth High School 574-936-2178 or Kelsey Flynn at 574-914-4849. Visitors are asked to park in the east parking lot (football stadium side) PHS Lot 7 and Door 7.

Free admission to Studebaker National Museum and The History Museum (South Bend)
On Wednesday, November 11, in honor of Veterans' Day, the Studebaker National Museum and The History Museum are offering free admission to all veterans and those currently serving in the Armed Forces, and their families.

Free movie in Elkhart
The city of Elkhart and the Lerner Theatre will offer a free showing of the Oscar-nominated film Flags of Our Fathers at 2 p.m. November 11. The doors will open one hour before the show.

Ben's Soft Pretzels
Ben's Soft Pretzels in Elkhart, Goshen and Shipshewana will be giving away free Jumbo Soft Pretzels to all who have served. They ask veterans to show proof of military service.

McDonald's
McDonald's in northern Indiana and southwest Michigan will honor former and active-duty military personnel with a free Extra Value Meal on Veterans Day, November 11. The offer is extended to any man or woman who has served or is serving in any branch of the United States military. It’s a small way of McDonald’s saying ‘thank you’ to the men and women who serve our country. The offer is valid at participating McDonald’s restaurants in Elkhart, Fulton, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Marshall, Pulaski, Starke and St. Joseph Counties in Indiana, and Cass and Berrien Counties in Michigan from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

United Federal Credit Union
United Federal Credit Union is holding Hero Appreciation Week from Monday, November 9 through Friday, November 13. Veterans, police officers, firefighters, teachers, doctors, nurses and first responders are invited to visit a branch during regular business hours to enjoy refreshments and receive a small gift. On Veteran’s Day - Wednesday, November 11 - members and the general public will have the opportunity to sign one of the giant “thank you” cards at each branch that will be sent to troops overseas.

Texas Roadhouse - Free lunch for veterans and active duty members
Texas Roadhouse restaurants in Elkhart, South Bend and Portage invite veterans and active members of the United States military to enjoy a FREE lunch on Wednesday, November 11. Every Texas Roadhouse location across the country will participate in the free lunch event to show our appreciation to the men and women of our armed forces, and honor them for serving our country. All veterans - including all active, retired or former United States military can choose one of 10 entrees, including a 6-ounce sirloin and two made-from-scratch sides plus a choice of any non-alcoholic beverage during lunch. Guests must show proof of service such as military or VA card, or discharge papers. Free meal for military personnel only; free meal offer does not include spouses or other family members.
