Woman whose home exploded in June 2015 found dead
A woman whose home exploded on June 19, 2015 and injured her and three others has died.
Michelle Ellenberger was found dead Sunday at a home on E. Jefferson around 2 p.m., according to St. Joseph County Coroner Randy Magdalinski.
Magdalinski says her cause of death was asphyxiation and manner of death was suicide.
Ellenberger, her daughter, her daughter's boyfriend and an officer were all injured when her house exploded in June 2015.
Ellenberger told police it was a suicide attempt.
She pleaded guilty but mentally ill to three counts of arson resulting in bodily injury in November 2015. She was sentenced to nine years in prison with all nine suspended in January 2016.
In court, she told the judge she believed the June 2015 suicide attempt was a result of medication she was taking.
