SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- While high school athletes around the area and around the country prepare to sign their National Letters of Intent to play collegiate sports, one John Adams High School senior signed a contract to sell some of his artwork to a local museum.

Alfredo Siqueiros-Gonzalez signed a contract with the Dinosaur Museum on Friday, May 3, and museum founder Mark Tarner plans to use Siqueiros-Gonzalez's artwork to sell retail items. Siqueiros-Gonzalez will collect royalty fees on the products sold.

"Siqueiros-Gonzalez has used his passion for paleontology and graphic design to create brilliant designs of prehistoric creatures for the museum," school officials said.

Siqueiros-Gonzalez says he is thrilled at the prospect of contributing to the community and making a lasting impact through his art.

"I feel honored to have this opportunity to reach out to the community and connect with them. As an artist, I have always found it challenging to put myself out there, but I am glad I did. You must put yourself out there to make a difference," said Siqueiros-Gonzalez, who is a Career and Technical Education student studying graphic design.

The school says he is interested in pursuing a career in paleontology and plans to author books on the subject. To achieve this, he plans to attend Purdue University and major in biology with a dual major in geology.

The Dinosaur Museum is an upcoming 18,000-square-foot facility. It is expected to open in 2024 and attract tourists from all over the country.
