First Free Fishing Day is May 12

Indiana Department of Natural Resources

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Indiana Department of Natural Resources has announced the year's first Free Fishing Day will be on May 12.

"Grab your gear and head outdoors—it’s time to fish" the DNR said. "On Free Fishing Days, Indiana residents do not need a fishing license or a trout/salmon stamp to fish the state's public waters, so it’s the perfect time to bring your family and friends along to join the fun."

All other rules such as seasons, bag limits, and size limits still apply.
