CASS COUNTY, Mich. — Voters are usually given "I Voted" stickers to on election days to show they participated in the democratic process, and this year, Cass County Clerk/Register Monica McMichael's office is hosting a contest for students to design the county's sticker.

The theme of the contest is “Celebrating Democracy and Civic Engagement" and aims to encourage young people to vote.

“Our records show that young voters have consistently had lower levels of participation in elections compared to older age groups in Cass County,” McMichael said. “My hope is that allowing youth to participate in some way will give them a sense of belonging and responsibility toward our political system, leading to them being comfortable and confident to vote in the future.”

Organizers say the submissions must include the words “I Voted” and be visually appealing.

Designs should be submitted on paper to be scanned in or as digital images from a computer to their high school art teacher, emailed to [email protected], or directly to the Cass County Clerk/Register’s Office at 120 N. Broadway in Cassopolis.

The submission deadline is Friday, May 24.

In addition to being 2024's “I Voted” sticker distributed at polling places, the winning design will be shared on Cass County’s social media pages and website.

Participants must attend a high school in Cass County or live in Cass County.

Questions should be directed to the Cass County at [email protected] or (269) 445-4464.
