Man arrested in connection to November 2023 South Bend homicide

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Police Department announced on Friday that a suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with a November 2023 homicide in South Bend.

Authorities say 50-year-old Carl Shelton, Sr. was shot on November 24, 2023, at a gas station in the 3600 block of McKinley Avenue.

"Shelton then drove to the area of Ironwood Drive and Eugene Street, where St. Joseph County Police were called, and he was transported to the hospital," SBPD said. "Shelton ultimately died from his injuries."

On April 30, 23-year-old Daiveon Windmon was arrested and charged with felony aggravated battery.

He currently being held at the St. Joseph County Jail with his next hearing scheduled for May 23 at 1:30 p.m.
