SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- An Illinois man who led authorities on 30-minute chase through La Porte County in March of 2021 was sentenced to 92 months in prison this week, the United States District Attorney's Office said.

Forty-year-old Martin Devalois, of Romeoville, Illinois, was found guilty of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm following a 2-day jury trial in December of 2023, and recently sentenced to 92 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release.

"In March 2021, Devalois led police on a 30-minute car chase throughout LaPorte County, at one time reaching 90 miles per hour while driving through the city of LaPorte," the District Attorney's Office said. "The chase ended when Devalois crashed into a snowbank, and police recovered a loaded handgun from the center console. Devalois has multiple prior felony convictions, any one of which prohibit him from possessing the firearm in this case."
