PGA and Whirlpool prepare for one last KitchenAid Senior Championship at Harbor Shores

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- The countdown is on for the final KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship next month in Benton Harbor.

The Whirlpool brand ending its decade long sponsorship, but organizers are planning to go out in style.

The festivities teed off Tuesday with the Corporate Cup where there were partners coming out for a day on the course that will soon be used by the pros.

The event brings the international spotlight, big name golfers, celebrity chefs, and thousands of spectators.

“You know, they also use our beaches. They use our restaurants, our hotels, and I would say just one example of the progress that’s been made since we started is hotels. I think they’ve quadrupled,” said Deb O’Connor, Whirlpool’s Director of Community Relations.

As the era comes to an end, they were able to try to sink the legendary Jack Nicklaus putt that started it all on the 10th hole.

Signage is up, and this year the activations, concerts, and more will all be bigger and better than in the 13 years past.

“Well everything we’re doing we are thinking about how it’s the last one, so we’re trying to just ramp it up every single thing we talk about. So our chefs are greater than ever. We have more chefs than ever and everything we’re doing is just like one step above what it has been in here, so yeah, this is gonna be the last one, but I guarantee you it’s the best one,” added O’Connor.
