SOUTH BEND, Ind. - There are new details on the multi-million-dollar makeover of Four Winds Field.
Wednesday, the City of South Bend gave local contractors the chance to look at the plans to expand the stadium this summer and prepare their bids.
The plans include a new upper deck with private indoor suites, expanded seating to bring the capacity up to about 10,000 fans per game, upgraded concessions, more bars and party spaces, and the biggest addition, a four-story multipurpose building connected to left field.
Bidding is set to open early next month.
Brian Larson, President of Larson-Danielson Construction, said, "The whole point of today's open house was to help make connections. And if we didn't make a connection at today's open house, we would hope that anybody seeing this message would also reach out to us at LD Construction."
The construction is expected to take around two full seasons to finish.
The work will start this September, right after the Cubs' final home game, with the upper deck and suites to be completed in time for the 2025 season.
