Calling all kindergarten through twelfth grade teachers in Indiana: the Discover The Outdoors field trip grant program will soon begin taking applications for the 2023-2024 school year.
Indiana Natural Resources Foundation is the official nonprofit of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. They raise funds for various conservation projects, like educational field trips to State Parks, habitat management, and tree planting.
The Discover The Outdoors field trip program awards grants for classrooms to visit Indiana State Parks.
The application period opens May 1, and closes June 30. These field trips will be taken during the 2023-2024 school year.
To apply, fill out the form on the Indiana Natural Resources Foundation website. This form, along with additional information about the program, can be found here.
Ethan Foster, the communications manager at Indiana Natural Resources Foundation, spoke about the program's impact on students.
"It could spark them to be passionate about conservation all the way through adulthood," Foster explained. "The goal of the program is to plant that seed and develop lifelong passions for conservation right here in Indiana."
